PODCAST. Perhaps the health effects of full-fat dairy are more than just the macronutrient content related to fat. Focusing on one food or one nutrient in a diet may boomerang versus looking at a food within the context of a healthy diet.
When dietary guidelines started urging people to slash the fat they consumed, the idea may have been to cut less healthy types of fat. In reality, patients compensated by eating more carbohydrate which the body converts in excess to body fat.
And don’t forget, when you’re talking about fat in foods, fats contain a mix of the three types…poly, mono and saturated fatty acids. So the discussion must include real food and calories too.
