Snackable Video: The number one misconception about caffeine is that it’s dehydrating. That’s what I learned, did you? Nutrition science is a fairly young science and it’s always changing. A recent study in PLOS One found no evidence of dehydration with moderate daily coffee intake. This study agrees with the Institute of Medicine update in 2004 to the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs), the nutrient intake guides for the US. Sufficient evidence existed that caffeine-containing beverages did not increase 24-hour urine volume in healthy individuals but can actually contribute to the body’s daily water intake.
